Six months after signing a three-year, $40-million deal with the Sacramento Kings, Dewayne Dedmon is reportedly hoping to find a new home.
With his playing time dwindling, the 30-year-old centre told The Sacramento Bee that he would like to be traded.
“I haven’t been playing, so I would like to go somewhere where my talents are appreciated,” he said Sunday.
The Kings are listening to offers and teams are interested in acquiring the seven-foot, 245-pound centre, reports Jason Anderson of The Bee.
Dedmon was Sacramento’s biggest free-agent acquisition, but has struggled to find his game with the Kings. He is shooting 41.9 per cent from the field and 22.9 from three, down from the 49.2 and 38.2, respectively, in 2018-19 with the Atlanta Hawks.
“I’m not the only person struggling with my shot, so if that’s a factor then it’s kind of crazy,” Dedmon told The Bee. “If you’re not allowed to shoot through your slumps, I don’t know how you’re supposed to make shots.”
He is averaging 4.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.5 blocks in 13.6 minutes across 23 games. Dedmon started the first four games of the season, but was relegated to the bench and has only appeared in two games since Dec. 6.
The six-year veteran made 52 starts and played 25.1 minutes a game for the Hawks last season.
