Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James doesn’t have any intention of waiving the no-trade clause on his current contract, according to ESPN.

Along with the clause that blocks the Cavaliers from trading him, James’ deal includes a player-option at the end of next season. If he chooses to exercise it, he could become a free agent in the summer of 2018.

There have rumours that James is “likely” headed to Los Angeles if he decides to leave Cleveland. If James didn’t have a no-trade clause, the Cavaliers could deal him in order to avoid losing him for nothing.

It’s been reported that James is disappointed with the Cavaliers’ latest development concerning Kyrie Irving, who has asked for a trade out of Cleveland. It was also reported that he was “frustrated” with the team’s off-season and the Cavaliers’ decision to part ways with former general manager David Griffin.
