The NBA’s Competition Committee is recommending three rule changes for the 2018-19 season, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wojnarowski reports the NBA’s Board of Governors is expected to pass each of the proposed new rules when it meets on Sept. 20-21.

The NBA experimented with resetting the shot clock to 14 seconds after an offensive rebounding during Summer League this year, and the rule has been in place in the WNBA since 2016 and the G League since last season.

According to current official rules, the current clear-path foul rule has a five-point criteria that officials need to adhere to, so simplifying the process may make the call easier for both on-court officials to administer and for fans to understand.

A “hostile act” is when a “player intentionally or recklessly harms or attempts to harm another player with a punch, elbow, kick or blow to the head.” The new definition, according to Wojnarowski, would now include interactions with officials, coaches and fans, in addition to players.
