Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray is expected to miss multiple games with a sprained left ankle, according to The Athletic’s Nick Kosmider.
Murray underwent testing to rule out more severe injuries than a sprain on Thursday, which came back clean.
The 22-year-old was injured in a game against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday when he tried to contest a three-point attempt by Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier and appeared to land on the latter’s foot.
After falling to the floor and clutching his ankle, he was helped to the locker room by teammates and then eventually placed in a wheelchair.
The Canadian is a key part of Denver’s young core and was rewarded with a five-year, $170 million contract just last summer. So far, that decision has paid off with the Nuggets sitting above most of the pack in the Western Conference as the current two-seed.
Murray is averaging 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists on 43.5 per cent shooting in 32 minutes this season.
