Indiana Pacers forward Domantas Sabonis has left the NBA bubble in Orlando to seek treatment for a foot injury, the team confirmed on Friday.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who was first to report the news, characterized the foot injury as “significant.”

Sabonis had been attempting to play through plantar fasciitis, a painful condition which involves inflammation of a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot and connects your heel bone to your toes.

The Pacers could, therefore, be without Sabonis for their first game of the NBA restart on Aug. 1.

Indiana may already be without Victor Oladipo, who is considering opting out of the season, although he’s been participating in practices and the Pacers first scrimmage against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Sabonis was averaging 18.5 points and 12.4 rebounds this season before the season’s suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
