The Toronto Raptors have officially signed free-agent Patrick McCaw, the team announced Thursday.
Though terms of the deal were not officially disclosed, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday that the deal would be a one-year contract for the veteran’s minimum of $786,000.
The 23-year-old played three games this season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who put him on waivers Sunday and did so before his contract would have been guaranteed for the remainder of this season. McCaw joined the Cavaliers after the Golden State Warriors did not match the two-year, $6 million offer sheet that he signed with Cleveland on Dec. 28.
The NBA is looking into his short-lived stint with Cleveland.
McCaw averaged four points per game in 128 regular-season appearances with the Warriors in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. He scored five points in the three appearances with the Cavaliers.
