Raps’ Colangelo to learn fate by Monday

It appears there will be a resolution to the Bryan Colangelo saga one way or another by the end of the weekend.

According to terms on Colangelo’s contract, new Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment CEO Tim Leiweke has until Monday to pick up the option year on his deal, sources have confirmed to sportsnet.ca’s Michael Grange.

MLSE and Leiweke have hired a head-hunting firm to come up with a shortlist of potential replacements for the Raptors president and general manager.

Two names that have been linked with the Raptors are Indiana Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard and Oklahoma City Thunder vice-president and assistant general manager Troy Weaver, although others could also be on the list.

The fact the Raptors have a search underway does not preclude Colangelo from returning for another year as some believe that Leiweke may just be doing his due diligence before making a final decision on the current front office staff.
