James Johnson is returning for a second stint with the Toronto Raptors, the Toronto Star‘s Doug Smith reported Thursday morning.

Johnson spent parts of two seasons with the Raptors after being acquired from the Chicago Bulls midway through the 2010-11 season. The six-foot-nine forward enjoyed his best years in Toronto, averaging a career-best 9.1 points and 4.7 rebounds while playing 26 minutes per game.

A first-round pick (16th) of the Chicago Bulls in 2009, Johnson spent last season with the Memphis Grizzlies where he averaged 7.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 18 minutes over 52 games.

Johnson, 27, was arrested in June for domestic assault after allegedly hitting and choking his wife. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and the case was later dismissed after his wife failed to show up to court.
