The Toronto Raptors are set to waive forward Alfonzo McKinnie, according to Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania.

McKinnie’s 2018-19 deal worth $1.4 million will become guaranteed after 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, so the Raptors must officially make the move before then.

Toronto will likely face a luxury tax penalty at the end of next season with the re-signing of point guard Fred VanVleet to a 2-year, $18-million contract and Norman Powell’s four-year, $42-million extension kicking in, making these little moves more of a necessity.
