Report: Raptors’ Siakam expected to be ‘day-to-day’ after hard fall

Watch as Pascal Siakam takes a foul from CJ McCollum as he drives to the net, landing hard but eventually getting up on his own.

Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam is expected to be listed as “day-to-day,” after he took a hard fall on his back Friday night while playing against the Portland Trail Blazers, The Athletic‘s Shams Charania reports.

The Raptors after the game told reporters in Portland that Siakam had suffered from back stiffness.

Late in the second quarter, Siakam was driving to the rim when Blazers guard C.J. McCollum, coming in help, made an attempt to block Siakam at the rim but ended up getting more of the Raptor’s head which caused him to lose balance in the air and land hard on his back.

McCollum was assessed a flagrant foul on the play and it looked as if Siakam would be all right as he played for part of the third quarter.

However, with 5:12 remaining in the third, OG Anunoby checked in for Siakam and Siakam never saw the floor again for the rest of the game.

He finished the contest with 10 points and four rebounds, a relatively poor performance by Siakam by standards of the breakout season he’s enjoying that has folks around the league talking about him as a most improved player front-runner already.

The Raptors next play the Nuggets in Denver. There’s been no indication yet if Siakam will be available for that game.
