Report: Rockets verbally agree to sign Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony has verbally agreed to sign with the Houston Rockets, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.

The Rockets had been the top rumoured destination for the 34-year-old.

This news comes weeks after Anthony was bought out by the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks acquired the forward last summer in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In 78 games with the Thunder last season, Anthony averaged 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists, shooting 40.4 per cent from the field and 35.7 per cent from beyond the arc.
