The San Antonio Spurs are very close to locking up a key piece from their run to the NBA Finals last season.
The team has reached an agreement with centre Tiago Splitter which will see Tiago Splitter take home $36 million over the next four seasons, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Portland Trail Blazers were also interested in acquiring the services of the Brazilian centre.
In his third season in San Antonio, Splitter had a breakout season last year as he moved into the starting lineup and posted averages of 10.3 points and 6.4 rebounds.
Perhaps just as importantly, his presence allows the Spurs to limit Tim Duncan’s minutes during the regular season.
