The Phoenix Suns have acquired Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington from the Miami Heat in exchange for Ryan Anderson, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Johnson is set to earn $19.3 million this season, with a player-option for next year worth the same. His contract includes a 15 per cent trade bonus valued at $1 million that he will receive as a result of this move.
In 44 games this season, the 26-year-old is averaging 10.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game on 42 per cent shooting from the field.
Phoenix will also receive guard Wayne Ellington, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Through just 25 games so far this year Ellington has been a consistent source of three-point shooting, connecting on 36.8 per cent of his shots from deep.
Ellington’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, is reportedly working with the Suns to arrange a buyout that would allow him to join a playoff bound team, per Wojnarowski. If no such agreement is reached, the 31-year-old is in the final year of his $6.2 million contract and will become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Miami will acquire Ryan Anderson as part of the deal, according to Wojnarowski.
The 30-year-old Anderson has appeared in only 15 games this season, averaging 3.7 points and 3 rebounds per game. He is under contract through the end of next season, and is set to earn $20.4 million this year and $21.2 million in 2019-20.
