It appears Anthony Bennett‘s stay with the Minnesota Timberwolves is nearing an end.
According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Timberwolves are progressing on a buyout for the 2013 No. 1 overall pick after they were unable to find a trade partner for the Canadian forward.
Bennett’s representatives have been seeking a new opportunity for the Toronto native who doesn’t project to have a consistent role in the Timberwolves’ front court in 2015-16.
The 22-year-old averaged 5.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 0.3 blocks per game in 57 games with Minnesota last season.
Minnesota acquired Bennett as part of the Kevin Love trade that landed the franchise No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins.
