Two Los Angeles Lakers players have tested positive for COVID-19, the team announced on Thursday.

Neither player has been named at this time.

JaVale McGee, who has asthma, reportedly was not one of them, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. Asthma is a respiratory condition that may place individuals at higher risk of getting very sick from COVID-19, according to the Centers for Disease Control. McGee suffered a bout with pneumonia last season.

Players were tested after four Brooklyn Nets players, who the Lakers played on March 10, tested positive.

According to the Lakers, both players are currently asymptomatic, in quarantine and under the care of the team’s physician.

In response to the these results, all Lakers staff are being asked to continue to observe self-quarantine and shelter at home.

Shortly after news of the two Lakers receiving positive tests broke, the Boston Celtics announced that a player on their team tested positive as well, bringing the total to 10 confirmed cases of COVID-19 being reported among NBA players.

Moments after the official release, Marcus Smart confirmed he was the Celtics player who had tested positive.

Utah Jazz centre Rudy Gobert was the first NBA player to test positive, followed shortly after by his teammate, Donovan Mitchell and then Christian Wood of the Detroit Pistons.

Since then, four members of the Brooklyn Nets tested positive as well, including Kevin Durant.

As of Thursday night, there have been 933 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in California, according to a database maintained by the New York Times, and 19 deaths.
