The NBA’s oldest player is about to join the eighth team of his career.
Vince Carter has agreed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reports the deal is worth the veteran minimum of $2.4 million.
Carter spent the 2017-18 campaign with the Sacramento Kings after three seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies.
The 41-year-old averaged 17.7 minutes and 5.4 points in the 58 games he saw action in this past season.
As Wojnarowski alluded to in his tweet, Carter will bring a needed veteran presence to a Hawks team that currently has 10 players aged 25 or younger.
Carter’s birthday is Jan. 26 so unless he retires before then he will become just the sixth player in NBA history to compete at age 42 or older joining the likes of Hall of Famers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dikembe Mutombo and Robert Parish. Kevin Willis is the oldest player in modern NBA history, playing until he was 44 years and 224 days old.
