Curry, 31, has been out of the lineup since the end of October when he broke his hand after he tried to brace himself while falling in a game against the Phoenix Suns. Curry returned to practice on Saturday and said that returning March 1 was always the target.
“This was a serious one that had a lot of nuances to it with the two surgeries and the nerve damage and stuff I’m still dealing with,” Curry said Saturday, according to The Athletic. “It’s responding, it’s just a slow process.”
The Curry injury — along with the departure of Kevin Durant and season-long injury to Klay Thompson — resulted in the Warriors plummeting in the standings after five consecutive finals appearances. Entering play Wednesday, the club holds the league’s worst record at 12-45.
In four games before his injury, Curry was averaging 20.3 points on .409 shooting including a career-low .243 per cent from three.
The Warriors host the Wizards Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET/ 5:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet One.
