Report: Wizards preparing prolific bid for Raptors’ Masai Ujiri

Michael Grange on Masai Ujiri's future with the Raptors after the Wizards will reportedly offer Ujiri as much as $10 million annually to run its basketball operations - Woj

The Washington Wizards are preparing a sizeable bid for Toronto Raptors president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The offer would be worth as much as $10 million annually, which could see Ujiri running the Wizards’ basketball operations.

However, Washington Post reporter Candace Buckner disputes the original report, tweeting the Wizards haven’t prepared an offer and “have no imminent plans” to reach out the Raptors.

Ujiri has orchestrated several marquee moves during his tenure with the Raptors, which saw them go from the lowest depths of the NBA to champions in his six seasons with the team.

The Wizards, meanwhile, are coming off a disappointing 2018-19 campaign where they missed the playoffs altogether and dealt with internal conflicts during the season.
