The San Antonio Spurs have signed veteran swingman Josh Howard.

The exact terms of the deal have not been divulged but, according to the San Antonio Express-News, the money in the contract isn’t guaranteed.

It appears the Spurs have brought in the 10-year man in an effort to find a reliable backup for starting small forward Kawhi Leonard.

At the start of training camp San Antonio had auditioned Sam Young and Corey Maggette as Leonard’s primary backup but both men were eventually waived.

A one-time All-Star, Howard’s career has been derailed by two ACL injuries, one of which robbed him of all but 11 games last season when he was with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In 507 career games the 33-year-old has averaged 14.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game on 45 percent shooting.
