DeMarcus Cousins is inching closer to making his debut with the Golden State Warriors.
The Warriors have assigned the eight-year veteran to Santa Cruz, their G-League affiliate, where the centre is expected to get some reps before returning to the Warriors.
Cousins suffered a left achilles rupture on Jan. 26 while playing for the Pelicans. In 48 games before that, he averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists, while putting up 1.6 blocks and 1.6 steals. The big man hasn’t played in a game since the injury, but this assignment marks a significant step in his recovery.
The Alabama-native signed a one-year deal as a free-agent with the Warriors this off-season.
