Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson left Game 6 of the NBA Finals after going down hard while driving to the rim against the Toronto Raptors.
The team announced the Warriors star has been ruled out for the remainder of the game with a left knee injury.
Thompson was attempting a lay-up late in the third quarter when Raptors guard Danny Green tried to swat the ball away. He immediately grabbed his left knee after landing awkwardly and was in visible discomfort.
Thompson was helped off the court and down the tunnel towards the Warriors’s locker-room, but turned around and returned to the court to take his free throws, igniting the crowd at Oracle Arena. It was imperative for Thompson to go to the line and shoot his free throws in order to allow him the possibility of later returning to the game.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr then subbed him out and he went to the locker-room.
