The Golden State Warriors have announced that all-star point guard Stephen Curry will begin participating in modified team practices Saturday and will be re-evaluated after a week.
Curry suffered a Grade 2 left MCL sprain on March 23 against the Atlanta Hawks after centre JaVale McGee accidentally fell on his leg in the Warriors star’s first game back in action after sitting out a couple of weeks with an injured right ankle.
It has been an injury-plagued season for Curry, who played just 51 of the 82-game regular season. He finished with averages of 26.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists while shooting 49.5 per cent from the field, 42.3 per cent from three-point range and 92.1 per cent from the free-throw line.
The Warriors have done just fine without Curry in the post-season, currently holding a 3-0 series lead against the San Antonio Spurs with a chance to sweep on Sunday.
