The New England Patriots are looking as strong as ever in the midst of their 2013 training camp despite the pall hanging over the club since Aaron Hernandez was charged with murder. If they are to overcome this awful story it will come down to the face of the franchise, veteran QB Tom Brady.

At age 36, Brady continues to improve and has shown he still has plenty to offer his team. Last season the veteran threw for 34 touchdowns and 4,827 yards with only eight interceptions. Backing him up, youngster Ryan Mallet will hopefully continue to build on last season.

And of course, the newest member of the Patriots, Tim Tebow.

There was lots of excitement surrounding the Patriots because of their signing of the former Jets QB. I believe Tebow didn’t live up to expectations with the Jets and is a bit overrated. However, having he and Mallett available certainly gives head coach Bill Belichick plenty of depth and skill to work with.

In fact this team has plenty of depth to work with in every area. Running backs Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen will provide the speed required to frustrate opponents. Veteran Leon Washington will continue to use his experience to help the young rookies improve their game, while also providing some fairly decent returns.

If Rob Gronkowski can bounce back from back surgery last month he’s certainly going to be the number one guy to block opponents effectively and run the ball when required. The back line of the Patriots is quite solid as well. With players like Vince Wilfork, Chandler Jones, and Tommy Kelly in the lineup, this back line will be tough for any opponent to break through.

I believe this roster has plenty of depth and huge potential for success this season and I’m very interested to see how much of an impact Tebow will make with his new team.

I believe this team will make the playoffs for sure this season. If Tom Brady can stay healthy, there is no telling how far these New England Patriots will go this year.
