Summer is a time for heading to the ballpark to watch your favourite MLB team, and while you’re there it’s also time to sample an ever-growing menu way beyond the traditional hot dog and beer. Depending which ballpark you visit this summer, there are culinary creations that have to be on any fan’s “must eat” list. Today’s stop on our tour of amazing, must-try foods at MLB parks is in St. Petersburg, Florida and the home of the Tampa Bay Rays, Tropicana Field.

The one must-try (or at least a must-watch-someone-try) food is actually more of a food event. The Rays Fan vs. Food challenge. Get a load of this. It is a two pound burger with four slices of cheese, half a pound of bacon and a one pound side of french fries. Finish it in 30 minutes and get two free tickets to a Rays game and a Fan vs. Food t-shirt. The cost? Just $30. But I’m not sure how anyone can get through it and THEN stay awake for nine innings!

Not in the mood for three and a half pounds of food? The classic $5 Cuban sandwich is another must-try. It’s made with ham, roasted pork, salami, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard and, of course, Cuban bread.

Last but certainly not least is their BBQ sandwich. Delicious pulled pork served with potato wedges, coleslaw and a side of hot peppers. Melt in your mouth amazing.
