The Toronto Argonauts will be without star linebacker Wynton McManis for a crucial road matchup against the Calgary Stampeders on Sunday.

McManis was sidelined from practice this week with a groin injury.

The 29-year-old leads the Argos with 33 defensive tackles and also has a sack and an interception, which was returned for a touchdown.

McManis joined Toronto as a free agent in February 2022, helping the team win a Grey Cup that season. He has been named a CFL All-Star in back-to-back seasons since joining the Argonauts.

Toronto has been hit by the injury bug on defence with Folarin Orimolade (who is eligible to return), Jared Brinkman, Jonathan Edouard, Quincy Mauger and Jordan Williams all on the six-game injured list.

The Argonauts (4-3) will look to keep pace in the East Division after picking up a 16-14 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-5) have picked up consecutive victories to close in on the Argos, who are chasing the Ottawa Redblacks (5-2) for second in the division.
