The B.C. Lions are on the verge of receiving a massive boost.
Just a few weeks after quarterback Nathan Rourke suffered a shoulder injury in the team’s loss to the Edmonton Elks, he was back under centre with the first team at Lions practice.
In the wake of Rourke’s injury, there were fears it could be a long-term issue. But, an MRI brought good news, and B.C. general manager Ryan Rigmaiden told media it would be weeks, not months — a prognosis that is about to be proven correct.
In Rourke's absence, the Lions have gone 1-1. At 2-5, they are far from out of the West Division picture, just two games back of both the Stampeders and Blue Bombers.
In five games this season, Rourke has thrown for 1,403 yards with five touchdowns to four interceptions, completing 71.3 per cent of his passes.
B.C. will host the 3-5 Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Week 10, after it defeated Winnipeg 35-19 in Week 9.
