The BC Lions have found a contingency plan under centre for the stretch run of the season.
The Lions have signed former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Chris Oladokun to their roster, the CFL team announced Monday.
Oladokun first appeared in an NFL game in 2024 — a 38-0 loss in Week 18 to the Denver Broncos. However, his only contributions were a five-yard run, a sack and a fumble.
He started two games for the Chiefs last year — appearing in three — after QB Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL tear late in the year. He finished the 2025 campaign with 35 completions on 55 attempts, with 235 passing yards and one touchdown.
The 29-year-old went through training camp and pre-season with the Chiefs, but was waived before the NFL season got underway as part of the team's final roster cuts.
Drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round (241st overall) in 2022, the Tampa, Fla., native spent six years in college, between South Florida, Samford and South Dakota State.
Canadian Nathan Rourke, the CFL's most outstanding player last season, is the Lions' starting QB. The team released QB Chase Brice in a corresponding move Monday.
The Lions also signed defensive back Jordan Oladokun, Chris's brother, to the practice roster on Monday.
