There was a very encouraging sign for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as the team returned to practice on Sunday following a bye week.
Star quarterback Zach Collaros was back on the field taking snaps after missing the past four games with a neck injury, Derek Taylor of Winnipeg's 680 CJOB reported.
The development would seem to create a legitimate chance for Collaros to return to his starting job on Friday against the visiting Ottawa Redblacks.
The Blue Bombers (4-4) have gone 1-3 with Dru Brown replacing Collaros as starter.
Collaros, 37, was injured in Winnipeg's 14-13 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on July 5.
Collaros was the CFL's most outstanding player in 2021 and '22 and led the Bombers to their last two Grey Cup wins in 2019 and '21.
With Collaros at the helm, the Blue Bombers advanced to three consecutive Grey Cup games from 2019 to '24.
