A former award winner could be heading back to the CFL.
Windsor, Ont., native Justin Veresuk was released by the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Justin Dunk of 3DownNation reported.
Veresuk was signed by the Colts after a successful rookie campaign with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2025 that saw him take the East Division's Most Outstanding Rookie Award after logging 66 tackles, two sacks, two touchdowns and an interception.
The 24-year-old joined the Colts on a futures contract in January. He registered one tackle during the pre-season.
Veresuk has two years left on his rookie contract with the TiCats, who retain his rights through the 2027 season.
Elsewhere around the NFL, the Las Vegas Raiders waived offensive lineman Niklas Henning, but intend to sign him to the practice squad if he clears waivers, Dunk reported.
Henning, who was raised in Milton, Ont., was the second overall pick in the 2026 CFL Draft by the Toronto Argonauts.
Ottawa native Jesse Luketa was waived by the New England Patriots. The 27-year-old logged five tackles during the pre-season. He previously played three seasons with the Cardinals, appearing in 31 games.
Meanwhile, former Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Dohnte Meyers has made the Cincinnati Bengals' initial 53-man squad.
Meyers caught 11 balls for 121 yards during the pre-season, and became a fan favourite after QB Joe Burrow shared a story about Meyers driving seven hours just to join a throwing session over the summer.
In 2025 with the Roughriders, the now 26-year-old registered 1,056 yards and eight scores while being named a West Division all-star.
