The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are going to a fourth starting quarterback in their ninth game of the season.
Harrison Frost will replace Canadian Tre Ford as the starter for Saturday's road game against the B.C. Lions, Ticats coach Scott Milanovich told reporters Thursday.
Frost, who will make his first career start, replaced a struggling Ford in last week's loss to the Calgary Stampeders.
"I would say probably it was a clear-cut decision," Milanovich said, per team reporter Steve Milton. "Things may have been different had Frosty been here for training camp. Obviously, we only got him a couple weeks ago. He does know the system because he's been here for 2 1/2 years. It was just too soon to throw him out there prior to this week, in my opinion and ask him to be able to play well."
Frost re-signed with the Ticats (3-5) in mid-July after playing for the St. Louis Battlehawks of the United Football League this year.
Previously, Frost was with the Ticats as a backup in 2024 and '25. He attempted only 17 passes during those two years.
The Ticats have struggled badly since star QB Bo Levi Mitchell suffered a serious ankle injury on July 5. The injury could end his season, though the Ticats haven't ruled out a potential return late in the year.
Jake Dolegala started the first game after Mitchell was hurt before Ford got the nod for three games. The Ticats are 1-3 in that stretch.
