The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have transferred wide receiver Kenny Lawler to the suspended list pending resolution of matters related to his 2021 off-field incident, the team announced Thursday.

The team expects to issue an update in “3-4 weeks from now” once Lawler’s situation is resolved.

In October of 2021, Lawler was arrested for drunk driving.

“It was a selfish decision. Just a bad decision on my part that I knew better not to step in that car. I’m sorry to everyone out there,” Lawler told reporters at the time.

The 28-year-old receiver caught 58 passes for 894 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games for the Blue Bombers last season

Winnipeg has one pre-season game remaining before they open the regular season by hosting the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on June 9.
