FREDERICTON — Charlotte Kot scored 19 points and picked up nine rebounds as the No. 4 Regina Cougars downed host UNB Varsity Reds 68-56 on Friday in consolation-round action at the CIS women’s basketball championship.
Katie Polischuk added 15 points while Sara Hubenig had 11 off the bench for the Cougars.
Caroline Healy scored 11 points off the bench for No. 8 UNB, with Kiley DeLong picking up 11 rebounds.
In the other consolation game, Elle Hendershot and Megan Wickstrom each scored 14 points as the Alberta Pandas got past the No. 7 Ottawa Gee-Gees 69-60.
Renee Byrne chipped in with 12 points off the bench for the No. 6 Pandas.
Catherine Traer had 18 points with Kellie Ring adding 16 points for Ottawa.
Regina and the Pandas will meet in the consolation final on Saturday to determine fifth place at the tournament.
Both semifinals will also be played on Saturday at the University of New Brunswick.
