Gilchrist to be added to ICC Hall of Fame

Gilchrist and former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis will become the 70th and 71st male cricketers to be added to the Hall of Fame in the latest round of inductions.

SYDNEY, Australia — Former Australia wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist will be inducted into the International Cricket Council Hall of Fame this week, becoming the 19th Australian to receive the honour.

Gilchrist and former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis will become the 70th and 71st male cricketers to be added to the Hall of Fame in the latest round of inductions. The honour will be conferred on Gilchrist during the tea interval on the first day of the third Ashes test at Perth on Friday.

Gilchrist represented Australia in 96 tests over 12 years, scoring 5,570 test runs with 17 centuries and claiming 416 catches as a wicketkeeper. He also scored 9,619 runs and claimed 472 catches in 287 one day internationals.
