Canada's playoff hopes are all but gone in mixed doubles curing at the Winter Olympics.
Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant suffered a costly 7-6 loss to Sweden on Sunday. It was the fourth loss in a row for Canada, dropping the team's record to 3-4.
Canada needs to win the final two games of the round robin and get a lot of help to have any chance of qualifying for the semifinals on Monday.
“We're never going to give up, we know we're good shot makers, it’s just a little frustrating where we’re maybe not making the right ones at the right time right now," Gallant told CBC Olympics. "But we’re just going to keep battling, we have two games left, we’re going to try and win the next one and that’s all we can do.”
The Swedish siblings improved to 5-3, giving their playoff hopes a big boost.
Sweden scored three in the seventh end to take a 7-5 lead.
Canada didn't do enough with the hammer in the final end to flip the result.
“A lot of positives from that game," Gallant said. "I thought we played really well, they played really well too, strong team. Some positives going into tonight's game, but, yeah, obviously it’s a tough loss.”
Canada returns to action later Sunday (1:05 p.m. ET / 10:05 a.m. PT, CBC Gem, Sportsnet+) against South Korea.
