CHESTERMERE, Alta. — Tracy Fleury’s team from East St. Paul, Man., and Silvana Tirinzoni’s Swiss squad kept their unblemished records intact at the Boost National heading into Saturday evening’s semifinals.
Both teams qualified for the playoffs through the A-side of the triple knockout stage at 3-0 to secure the top seeds and picked up additional wins in the afternoon women’s quarterfinals at Chestermere Recreation Centre.
Fleury, who won the Masters two weeks ago, fended off Edmonton’s Team Laura Walker 7-5 and Tirinzoni ousted Team Alina Kovaleva from Russia 5-3 in a repeat of last season’s world championship gold medal match.
The world No. 1 Team Fleury will now face Edmonton’s Team Kelsey Rocque, who bounced Team Isabella Wranå from Sweden 7-5.
The two-time reigning world champ Tirinzoni takes on Team Anna Hasselborg of Sweden after the defending champions scored two points in the eighth end to edge Ottawa’s Team Rachel Homan 8-7.
