Reigning world champions Team Niklas Edin from Sweden captured the Penticton Nufloors Curling Classic title after edging Team Glenn Howard of Penetanguishene, Ont., 5-4 in an extra end during Sunday’s final in Penticton, B.C.
Edin, who finished the tournament with an unblemished 8-0 record, held the hammer in the extra end and made an open draw to score the winning point.
It was the second consecutive runner-up result for Howard, who lost to Team Brad Gushue of St. John’s, N.L., in the Stu Sells Toronto Tankard men’s final this past Monday. Team Howard ended with a 7-2 record in Penticton.
