Charley Thomas is off to the playoffs at the Alberta Boston Pizza Cup.

Thomas toppled Mick Lizmore 10-6 in the B qualifier Friday night to advance at the men’s provincial curling championship in Westlock.

The Didsbury native Thomas will now take on A qualifier Brendan Bottcher in Saturday’s Page playoffs with the winner going straight through to the final.

Thomas finished runner-up last year to Kevin Koe, who is not defending the Alberta Boston Pizza Cup as his crew earned the auto-berth to the Tim Hortons Brier as the reigning Team Canada.

Lizmore, who fell to Bottcher in Thursday’s A final, has one last chance to advance to the playoffs in the C qualifiers Saturday against Ted Appelman, who eliminated Jeremy Harty 7-3.

The other C final features James Pahl versus Aaron Sluchinski. Pahl ousted Josh Lambden 7-2 while Sluchinski clipped Thomas Scoffin 5-4 in the C semifinals.

NOTES: The winner of the tournament will represent Alberta at the Tim Hortons Brier running March 4-12 in St. John’s, N.L. … Watch coverage of the Alberta Boston Pizza Cup live Sunday on Sportsnet starting at 11 a.m. MT.
