Jim Cotter’s final shot of the extra end glided to the pin to win 7-6 over Dean Joanisse in the CDI B.C. men’s championship final to retain the championship Sunday in Vernon, B.C.
The Kelowna/Vernon-based rink of Cotter, third Ryan Kuhn, second Tyrel Griffith and lead Rick Sawatsky are now off to the Brier, starting Feb. 28 in Calgary.
It’s the fifth provincial title for Cotter, who was a finalist at the Brier a year ago.

Joanisse, who beat Cotter 8-5 in the page playoffs, opened the final the hammer and settled for one in the second end. The teams matched deuces through three and four and Cotter broke out with another pair in five followed by a single steal in six to go up 5-3.
The Richmond-based Janisse rink got another two in seven to even it 5-5 and the teams traded singles through the ninth and 10th ends to force the extra frame where Cotter prevailed.
