Canada’s Brad Gushue is through to the gold-medal match at the world men’s curling championship in Edmonton.

Gushue topped Niklas Edin of Sweden 7-4 in Friday’s Page 1-2 playoff game to secure a spot in Sunday’s final. The St. John’s, N.L., team picked up its 12th consecutive victory and is now just one more win away from a world title.

Edin gets another lifeline through the semifinal Saturday against the winner of the 3-4 game between Peter de Cruz of Switzerland and American John Shuster.

Thanks for keeping it here for live updates through the Page 1-2 playoff game. Here’s how it all went down:

10TH END

With nowhere to hide, Gushue runs Edin out of rocks. Book it: CAN 7, SWE 4

9TH END

Canada has to play into the ninth for the first time since Sunday’s round-robin game against … Sweden. Edin freezes and Gushue it peels out while sitting another to take another point. CAN 7, SWE 4

8TH END

Gushue stuffs the double takeout attempt giving Edin a freebie draw into the eight-foot circle for two cutting the deficit in half. CAN 6, SWE 4

7TH END

After singles going steady, Canada gets some separation on the scoreboard. Edin looks to freeze on his last, but he can’t pull the string far enough and leaves just enough room for Gushue to crack it out and score a three-pointer. CAN 6, SWE 2

6TH END

Well that wasn’t part of the plan. Canada gives up a steal as Edin lands right on the lid with his last, Gushue hits the counter but not hard enough as it sticks around to remain shot. Are you nervous? CAN 3, SWE 2

5TH END

Edin pops out both Canadian stones and the shooter slides away to clean the house. Gushue chucks his last over to lead Geoff Walker to ferry down the sheet as bagels go on the board. Canada stays ahead by two heading into halftime. CAN 3, SWE 1

4TH END

Sweden gets on the board with just a single. Edin needed to hit and roll over to nudge Gushue’s counter, but he loses the shooter in the process. CAN 3, SWE 1

3RD END

Swipe another point for Canada. Edin hits and rolls too far as Gushue steals again.

Things fell apart when third Oskar Eriksson hit and rolled out, allowing Canada to knock out the other Swedish stone in the house and set up the force. CAN 3, SWE 0

2ND END

That’s more like it for Canada. Gushue steals as Edin rubs and rolls off of Canada’s counter. CAN 2, SWE 0

1ST END

Canada is throwing red rocks, Sweden is throwing yellow, seems fitting, right?

Gushue opens with the hammer, but doesn’t get off to an ideal start needing to draw against two counters for just one point. The rock stops just behind the button as Team Canada breathes a sigh of relief. CAN 1, SWE 0
