Fan Fuel 2013 NHL team roster preview: Boston Bruins

BY ALIN MATEESCU – FAN FUEL BLOGGER

With the NHL and NHLPA reaching an agreement in principle on a new CBA, it is now time to examine each team’s roster as they head into a likely 48 game season. Here is my look at the Boston Bruins and the possible questions facing their roster, their cap space, their unrestricted free agents and their restricted free agents. Salary cap and cap space provided by capgeek.com.

Salary Cap: $68,867,976 (1)

Cap Space: $1,332,024

Players Signed: 23

UFA: L – Brian Rolston, D – Mike Mottau, G – Marty Turco

RFA: none

The biggest question in Boston remains whether enigmatic goaltender Tim Thomas will resume his career with the Bruins this season. According to recent reports, Thomas will not end his selfimposed hiatus from the NHL, thus leaving the Bruins without a bona fide back-up for the 25-year-old Tuukka Rask and a $5 million cap hit.

Unless the Bruins are willing to give Anton Khudobin a shot to back-up Rask, they may have to settle for one of the UFAs still on the market: Marty Turco (BOS), Trevor Cann (COL), Ty Conklin (DET), John Grahame (NYI), Brent Johnson (PIT), Tyson Sexsmith (SJ), and Dwayne Roloson (TB).
