Fan Fuel 2013 NHL team roster preview: Minnesota Wild

BY ALIN MATEESCU – FAN FUEL BLOGGER

With the NHL and NHLPA reaching an agreement in principle on a new CBA, it is now time to examine each team’s roster as they head into a likely 48 game season. Here is my look at the Minnesota Wild and the possible questions facing their roster, their cap space, their unrestricted free agents and their restricted free agents. Salary cap and cap space provided by capgeek.com.

Salary Cap: $68,848,867 (2)

Cap Space: $1,351,133

Players Signed: 23

UFA: D – Foster, Kurtis, RW – Jed Ortmeyer, D – Jeff Penner

RFA: RW – Nick Palmieri

The lack of salary cap space means that the Wild will go into the season with what they have. And after inking Zach Parise and Ryan Suter to a total of $198 million in the summer, they have a pretty good roster on their hands. The duo take the Wild from missing the playoffs to a contender for home ice — after all, they were 20-7-3 to start the season without them.

With $1,351,133 in cap space the Wild don’t have much to maneuver, but it could be enough to grab some depth players before the trade deadline.
