BY JEREMY BLAKELY- FAN FUEL BLOGGER
Today is Valentine’s Day and love is in the air. Every year is a different story for the Toronto Blue Jays but, no matter what I still continue to stay faithful. This summer during my trip to Ontario, my friend and I went to Rogers Centre to see the Cleveland Indians take on the Jays. This game was very special because this was my very first live baseball game.
Seeing the players live, sitting in the stands, and trying a hot dog from the stadium made the whole experience that much better. Carlos Villanueva had an outstanding game for the Jays. He had a career best eight strikeouts over a six inning span and this led to an eventual 3-0 win. When the game was over, before we left we had decided to buy Blue Jays t-shirts as a souvenir. My selection for the shirt was number 13 Brett Lawrie and my friend chose to get number 19 Jose Bautista. Personally as a fan of sports and especially of the Blue Jays, my experience this summer has made my love for the team grow even further.
The Blue Jays were back-to-back World Series champions from 1992-93. This is very important to me, not just because I am a Blue Jays fan but because of my Canadian heritage, and 1993 was my birth year. The culture of the city was at an all-time high during the two championship years.

Many fans have forgotten what it was like to taste the postseason atmosphere in Toronto. In 2012 the Jays hopes had been higher, finishing with the best record at the end of spring training. The season for the team had been different in many ways. They had three starting pitchers go down in a week, many players needing surgeries and missing much time. By the end of it all the Blue Jays finished with a record of 73-89.
After all the disappointments of the 2012 season I had predicted that the Blue Jays would expect to make many changes with their team and add players through either free agency or with trades. General manager Alex Anthopoulos must have read my mind because he wanted the same that many Jays fans had hoped for, a winning team. During the offseason Toronto added players like Melky Cabrera, Jose Reyes, R.A. Dickey, Josh Johnson, and many more including a familiar face with manager John Gibbons. Hopefully the Blue Jays end up playing baseball this October.
In addition to my already purchased Brett Lawrie t-shirt I had also bought a Jose Reyes t-shirt and a Blue Jays hat as well. It’s been 20 years since the Jays have won the World Series and expectations are sky high for them. Hopefully my future consists of moving to the great city of Toronto and also to attend many exciting Blue Jays games to extend my love for this outstanding team.
