There have been numerous debates all over this great country of ours about the Canadian Football League. Some of them have been educational and then some have been heated and ridiculous but yet we still continue to argue with people in our own country about the CFL.
Let’s face it; we all know that this is not the NFL. Players do not come to the CFL to become rich; instead they see it as a way of playing some good, competitive football while hoping to find their way across the border to the promised land of the NFL. The unfortunate part is that the majority of these players never see their dreams come true. A lot of Football fans look at this as a burden on the CFL, but it’s not.

If you take a look at a number of CFL stars who had their moment in the promised land and decided it’s not worth the struggles and the loop holes to make it in the NFL, they quickly learn that they can and do have great careers up north in this great country we call Canada.
The Canadian Football League has a very unique relationship with its fans, a bond that is developed through their players their celebrations and the Grey Cup. Generations of fans quickly learn that the typical CFL player is just like you and me, and they don’t make millions of dollars to play the game they love. They too have jobs during the season and the off season and many of them are Canadian born.
A lot of players who play in the CFL soon become content with having an entire career playing this great Canadian game. They love that they can be so close with their fans, see them on the streets and are able to chat with them like they’re just any other guy. They easily check their egos at the door and love to blend in with the crowd, taking in all the energy and the enthusiasm.
CFL fans don’t need the best players in the world in their uniforms in order to be happy and love the league. They enjoy the closeness, the camaraderie and the passion that is produced on and off the field game after game.
Canadian Football fans just want to have a good time and cheer on their favourite locals who play the game because they love football, not because they want to be rich and famous.
