Canadian soccer fans now have another reason to hold their breath.
Ismaël Koné missed training on Wednesday due to a fever, per OneSoccer's Kristian Jack.
The midfielder's status for Canada's 2026 World Cup opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina from Toronto on Friday is now unconfirmed, Jack adds.
Another sidelined player would be a massive blow to the Canadian men's national team, which has struggled to stay healthy ahead of the World Cup.
Marcelo Flores has already been ruled out for the tournament due to a torn ACL, while Alphonso Davies, Moise Bombito, Ralph Priso and Jacob Shaffelburg's statuses are all uncertain.
Koné is a regular in Canada's midfield and has made 40 appearances for his country since 2022 while scoring four goals.
The 23-year-old played in all three of Canada's games at the 2022 World Cup.
