SHERBROOKE, Que. — Montreal Alouettes wide receiver Mardy Gilyard was arrested for marijuana possession on Monday.
The Alouettes confirmed the charge in a news release, saying Gilyard was arrested for "simple possession of marijuana" in Lennoxville, Que., near where the team is holding its training camp.
"The Montreal Alouettes do not condone this type of behaviour from any employee," the team said. "The club will allow the justice system to render a verdict and will act accordingly."
The Alouettes said they will not comment further on the matter.
Gilyard suffered a torn Achilles tendon at training camp last week and will miss the upcoming CFL season.
