Argos sign former NFL first-round picks

TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts bolstered their lineup by signing nine players, including former NFL first-round picks Kenyatta Walker and Duane Clemons, on Monday.

Walker, an offensive lineman, was taken 14th overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2001 NFL draft. He played six seasons with the Buccaneers and helped them win the 2003 Super Bowl over the Oakland Raiders as their starting right tackle.

Clemons was taken 16th overall by the Minnesota Vikings in the 1996 draft. Clemons played 10 seasons with Minnesota, Kansas City and Cincinnati. He made 337 tackles and 49.5 sacks, including four seasons when he had at least seven sacks.

The Argonauts also signed defensive lineman Daryl Whittington, defensive lineman Darrell Lee, defensive back Will Poole, defensive lineman Walter Curry, linebacker Matt Hewitt, offensive tackle Brandon Joyce,and non-import offensive lineman Chris Van Zeyl.
