WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed import receiver Terrence Edwards to a contract extension.
Edwards, who turns 33 on Friday, led the CFL team in receiving last season with 66 receptions for 1,124 yards and eight touchdowns.
Since joining Winnipeg in 2007, Edwards has had four 1,000-yard seasons and stands sixth on the Bombers’ all-time receiving yardage list with 5,602 yards.
"Terrence has been one of our most consistent receivers since he came to Winnipeg and has great leadership qualities and work ethic that is looked up to by the rest of his teammates," GM Joe Mack said in a statement.
"He will continue to be a key component of our offence and we look forward to having him continue to mentor our young group of receivers."
The CFL team also announced that Liam Martin and Ossama AbouZeid have been elected to its board of directors.
Martin is communications representative for Manitoba, for the Canadian Union of Public Employees.
AbouZeid returns to the board after having resigned in December 2010 to become project manager of the team’s new stadium. He later became interim CEO as the Bombers began a search for a full-time chief executive.
