The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released import linebacker Siddeeq Shabazz, Sportsnet has learned.
The six-foot, 205-pound linebacker joined the Blue Bombers in 2009 after spending the previous two seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos. Last season, he registered 72 tackles with four interceptions in Winnipeg.
Shabazz was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He made several other stops in the NFL before heading north of the border, including stints with the Atlanta Falcons, Cincinnati Bengals, Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins.
He played his college football at New Mexico State.
