Bombers sign import kicker Myers

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added another kicker, Sportsnet.ca has learned.

The Bombers have brought in import Mark Myers, who played three games with Hamilton in 2006 after signing as a free-agent with the Tiger-Cats on July 13th.

The Bombers, who play in Regina on Sunday, have struggled with their kicking game this. Rookie Alexis Serna started the season off strongly, but began to falter and incurred the wrath of head coach Doug Berry. Prior to the team’s last game, the Bombers signed Canadian Warren Kean, drafted second overall by Edmonton last year. Kean can punt and placekick.

Speculation is that the Bombers may dress two of the three kickers for the Saskatchewan game and that Serna will handle field-goal kicking duties.

Myers had an impressive debut two years ago, connecting on both of his field-goal attempts, including the game winner from 44 yards out with no time left on the clock. He also had three kickoffs for 196 yards in the win. Overall he connected on five of six field-goal attempts and averaged 57.7 yards on 12 kickoffs for 692 yards.

His time with the Tiger-Cats ended after missing three games with an injury.

The Tiger-Cats have been solid in the kicking game since the start of 2007 with dual-purpose kicker Nick Setta.
