WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers acquired defensive back Sebastian Clovis from the B.C. Lions on Wednesday for kicker Rob Pikula.

Clovis appeared in five games for B.C. last season, registering four tackles on special teams. He missed part of the season with a knee injury.

The six-foot, 205-pound Clovis was selected in the fourth round, 34th overall, of the 2005 Canadian college draft. Clovis, a Toronto native, played his college football at St. Mary’s.

Clovis’ younger brother, Tristan, was a member of the Grey Cup-champion Saskatchewan Roughriders last season.

Pikula, of Brantford, Ont., spent last season with Winnipeg after being acquired from B.C. on June 30, 2007. He shared kicking duties with veteran Troy Westwood, converting 10-of-16 field goals (62.5 per cent success ratio). Pikula also punted 94 times and sported a 34.6-yard average.

Pikula played his college football at the University of Western Ontario, spending four seasons as the team’s punter and kicker.
